What can I expect from a kite-surfing course?

With trial courses to day courses, lasting a maximum of 3 – 4 hours, we offer numerous possibilities to beginners or novices to become familiar with kite-surfing. Both theory and practical training are taught equally from the start. The safety and the environmental awareness are our first priority. We help advanced students further expand their ability with our help.

Will the course also be held in the rain?

We are on the sun island here, after all, but there may be the one or other rainy day once in a while. But it is then not really cold; the courses will therefore take place unless we cannot go in the water for reasons of safety, such as during a thunderstorm or storm warning.

What happens if there isn’t any wind?

As we have the advantage of perfect wind conditions during our main season, we only rarely have this dilemma. One mostly only has to wait a few hours. But if there were to be an absolute calm condition, there is also still enough theory to learn. In the winter, we have the chance with our mobile station to adapt to the wind conditions. A course will naturally not be cancelled; it will be postponed in the worst case scenario. Of course, we take care to ensure that you are only sent out during good wind conditions so that you can learn about the fun in kiting under the best possible conditions!

What should I observe and what should I bring?

You should definitely bring a good mood, bathing clothes, a towel, waterproof (!) sunscreen, and something to drink and to eat. You will receive the entire equipment provided to you in our courses. Advanced students may also rent the complete equipment from us. But we advise all to take out insurance. You will find it at a low cost at Safety Tool from VDWS, for example.

How many hours of instruction do I need until I can kite-surf?

How long did it take you to learn to walk or to ride a bike? It is very individual like with any sport, but we can ensure you that kite-surfing can generate very quick results. Already after the first courses you have the kite in the air, you stood on the board for the first time. But we must never forget that all sports require exercise, constant training increases your abilities. To control the kite correctly is the essential thing before one dares to ride it. Dry runs at the beach, you won’t get around theory here either.

How dangerous is it to learn kite-surfing?

Kite-surfing is naturally considered an extreme sport, but today’s equipment is so well thought out that one can immediately escape from a dangerous situation using the modern safety systems just by releasing or by separating the kite from the trapeze. The main requirement is naturally a good training as is the correct use and maintenance of the equipment. Kitesurfing has almost turned into a sport for all in the meantime. We naturally also first teach with the training kites, bow kites at the beach, once one handles it well, off into the water.

What do I have to spend when I buy the equipment?

Kitesurfing is not a cheap sport and new equipment can be very expensive. But as this sport has existed a few years already, one can also obtain good, used material. We naturally also sell our equipment regularly, which is still in a perfect and constantly maintained condition to always be able to provide our clients with the newest standard. Prices gladly upon request.

Which physical conditions do I need to fulfil to be able to kite-surf?

The sport doesn’t look like it, but you really don’t need to be well trained to learn kite-surfing. The kite together with the wind actually does the work for you. The wind will carry you by means of the trapeze connected with the kite through a waist harness, you virtually just need your arms for steering.
